In Worcester, an established engineering company, Blackpole Jig & Tool, has harnessed these skills to pursue a 'Top Class Machinery Refurbishment Service' related to Can Making Machinery.

The company was launched twenty-three years ago, initially as a division of Archdales', part of Staveley Industries at a location close to the M5 motorway.

In addition to providing a 'First Class Service' to fellow group companies with the supply of Fixtures, Special Purpose Machines, Precision Machined Details etc. a new era of customers including GKN, Rolls Royce, GEC, Rockwell, Dunlop, Cincinnati, Cosworth were soon added to the list of valued accounts.

All these clients require a high quality of machine build and supporting tooling for a wide spectrum of business, Aerospace, Defence, Commercial Vehicle Rebuild etc.

During the recession of 1982, when Staveley were releasing many of their Machine Tool Companies, Blackpole Jig & Tool was acquired privately by two local directors. A growth pattern quickly emerged and the jobs of the skilled workforce preserved. Existing customers maintained their faith in the organisation, many of whom are still trading with the company today.

The company operates three divisions:

1) Design & Manufacture of special purpose machines, jigs & fixtures. More

2) Build & refurbishment of all types of machinery, either associated with or directly for the Metal Packaging Industry. More

3) Manufacture & supply of Quality Assurance Gauges for the Metal Packaging Industry. More

In recent years Blackpole Jig & Tool have achieved an ever enhancing reputation within the Metal Packaging Industry for the quality of their rebuild service. Machinery is rebuilt, upgraded and brought back to 'as new' condition with improvements or modifications being incorporated simultaneously. Projects completed to date include rebuild of 314 presses with 314 Taylor clutch if required), 200SS Scroll Shears, Body Partners, Seamers, Coaters and Gear Boxes as well as a wide range of other machinery from manufacturers such as Karges Hammer, Bliss, Crabtree and Mailander.

In addition Blackpole Jig & Tool offer an on-site service facility covering planned maintenance, breakdowns, problem solving and design based on extensive knowledge and backup production facilities to fulfil customers specific requirements.

The QAGS (Quality Assurance Gauges) Division has been introduced with the support of CMB Engineering (Central Spares). Already a significant world-wide growth pattern is emerging.

Our Quality Assurance Gauges covers both Canmaking and Can Filling Technologies plus general laboratory equipment, giving a complete service which includes new Gauges, modifications, repair and full calibration service.
